Impressions from the company holiday on August 29, 2025
To mark the 30th anniversary of SIMON PROtec Systems AG, our Swiss colleagues paid us a two-day visit to Passau.
For such an anniversary, we put together a program befitting the occasion. Since there is a real geological gem not far from Passau—the only graphite mine in the whole of Germany—this year's company holiday took us underground. So it was time to put on our helmets, duck our heads, and switch on our miner's lamps!
Forty meters below the surface, in a cold, damp environment with ceiling heights that take some getting used to (at least for taller people), we were able to learn more about the everyday work of a miner and experience the harsh conditions of mining "black gold" firsthand. After the visit, many people are likely to appreciate their workplace above ground, at their comfortable desk in a heated office, even more.
Because working underground makes hungry, the detour to Brauliebe Hirz for lunch was a welcome refreshment for everyone and a cozy end to an interesting, yet somewhat wet and cold day.
However, the break was short-lived, as one of Lower Bavaria's largest fests was taking place at the same time in nearby Karpfham. We took advantage of this opportunity to introduce our Swiss colleagues to some authentic Bavarian fest culture. (PS: Everyone involved survived the evening without any major damage).
A big thank you goes to everyone involved, especially our colleagues from Switzerland for visiting us in Passau!
