The "Redmolen" office building on Copenhagen's harbor not only offers a magnificent view through its huge window façade, but is also a real eye-catcher in its own right. The circular, approximately sixty-meter-high "mill" was designed by the architectural firms Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects and Cobe. The 12,000 m² inclined element façade made of glass and galvanized steel is intended to filter daylight as required to ensure optimum lighting conditions inside. The faceted elements are positioned in such a way as to reduce the direct entry of sunlight. On the south side, the façade elements are narrower to reduce glare. The elements on the west, east and north sides gradually widen, allowing more daylight to enter the building complex.
Our Danish partner ALUX A/S has installed 36 Fire Curtain Fire PROtec EI 60 MARC so that the building can be exited safely even in the event of a fire. From now on, 21 of them will keep the elevator doors of the building fireproof - thanks to the flexible system structure, the compact clear dimensions of 1035 x 2140 mm are easily possible. With protection target EI60, the fire protection curtains guarantee full thermal insulating fire protection for 60 minutes. The curtain systems are seamlessly and aesthetically integrated into the rest of the building design so they are virtually invisible in everyday life.
